Founded in 2016, BusinessTechné was born from a bold vision to help reshape how leaders lead in an ever-changing future.
Technology began accelerating the pace of change. After two decades of leading people and learning functions at some of the greatest Fortune 50 companies in the world, Ellie Gates saw what many leaders missed. Change was about to become the new normal.
People and organizations needed greater strategic alignment with their strategy, systems and support structures. Leaders needed to understand more deeply how their dynamic human and organizational systems functioned and support them with more agile or adaptable structures (Scaffolding).

The imperfect world needed imperfect leaders who could embrace their humanity, mine their own experiences for insights, and leverage what was forged in fire to lead with greater clarity, inspiration, vulnerability and compassion.
Foresight and strategic change agility.
Given change would drive the agenda for most organizations and the world in unprecedented ways, leaders needed to strengthen their ability to recognize and understand weak signals in the marketplace and ensure the decisions they make considered the long-tail of their actions. Planning for multiple outcomes versus a determined future would be the new competitive advantage. Change was not to be feared but harnessed and new tools would be needed to keep up with the pace of change.
Rooted in ancient these ancient virtues of Epistēmē (knowledge) and Techné (craft) Ellie sought to evoke deeper thinking, leverage strategic foresight, focus on human-centered design and built practical tools to help leaders, teams and organizations succeed by navigating and creating the future.
She earned her doctorate in Strategic Leadership with a concentration in Strategic Foresight to strengthen her ability to map system dynamics, anticipate first, second, and third order impacts, and scenario plan multiple futures. Her thesis centered on “Compassion as an Operating System to Promote Human Flourishing.”
For Ellie, there was always a vision behind her masterpieces, even when all anyone else saw was a block of marble, a lump of clay, or a chunk of wood.
